Tom Mallow - Broadway producer best known for the "bus and truck" circuit which brought Broadway shows to smaller towns all across America died of complication of Alzheimer's disease at age 71.

David Lazar - Longtime State Department employee and National Security Advisor under Gerald Ford who helped negotiate the Panama Canal Treaty (as well as writing the song "Gotta Travel On - a big hit for Billy Grammer in 1958) died of lung cancer at age 73.

Phil Interlandi – Cartoonist best know for drawing "Queenie" in Playboy magazine died of liver disease at age 78 (terrible week for Playboy cartoonists).
Helen Nielsen – Mystery writer who penned "Sing Me A Murder" and "Woman Missing" as well as scripts for TV shows like "Perry Mason" and "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" died of undisclosed causes at age 83

Dr. Martin Deutsch - Educator and pioneer in studies in educating disadvantage children, including pre-school exposure to art and music, that eventually led to the Head Start program nationwide died of renal failure at age 76.

Ivan Moffet - Oscar-nominated screenwriter (“Giant”) and associated producer (“Shane”, “A Place In the Sun”) died of a stroke at age 84.
Paul Voinovich - Brother of Ohio Senator George Voinovich who had been at the center of corruption investigations in his contracting business dealings died of a stroke at age 59.
Christian Bizot - Patriarch of the Bollinger French Champaign house died of a heart attack at age 73.

Louise Klos Steiner Elian - Harpist who played on the scores of "Casablanca," "Gone With the Wind," and "King Kong" and wife of legendary composer Max Steiner died at age 96.

Phyllis White - Author and Emmy-nominated television writer on shows like "The Tonight Show", "Flying Nunn", "Mission Impossible" and "Guiding Light" who was also a vice-president of the Writer's Guild of America died after a stroke at age 79.
Thomas Laird - Retired Chief of Geographic Names of the U.S. Interior Department (what a cool job - to come up with names for places!) died of a heart ailment at age 83.

Stephanie Waldron - Daughter of comedienne Phyllis Diller died of a stroke at age 53.

Jana Elway-Sever - Twin sister of former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway died of cancer at 42.

Barry Reed - Trial attorney who wrote books based on his experience including "The Verdict", which was made into the Oscar-nominated film starring Paul Newman, died at age 75.

Dr. Ted Mortimer - Pediatrician who helped discover the link between the use of aspirin and the fatal Reye's syndrome in children (as well as the more important discovery that tight jeans can cause back pain in teenagers) died of Lou Gehrig's disease at age 80.
